Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1Airport Arrival — Transfer to Negombo
Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport where you will be warmly received by your dedicated chauffeur guide. Transfer to your coastal hotel in Negombo to relax and refresh after your international flight. Spend the evening resting or strolling along Negombo's golden sandy beach and tranquil coastal lagoons. Dinner and overnight stay in Negombo.
Day 2Chilaw (Munneshwaram & Manavari Temples) to Sigiriya
After breakfast, journey north to Chilaw to visit the sacred Munneshwaram and Manavari Temples. Munneshwaram is an ancient sanctuary dedicated to Lord Shiva and is associated with the Ramayana tradition. According to legend, Lord Rama visited this region after the battle in Lanka and was advised by Lord Shiva to install Shiva Lingams. At Manavari, visit the sacred Ramalinga Shivan, traditionally believed to be the first Lingam consecrated by Lord Rama in Sri Lanka. Continue through the countryside to Sigiriya for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3Trincomalee — Koneswaram Temple & Shankari Devi Shakthi Peetham
Take a scenic morning drive to the historic port city of Trincomalee on Sri Lanka's east coast. Visit the magnificent Koneswaram Temple atop Swami Rock, one of the island's most revered Hindu shrines. Within the sacred complex, visit the Shankari Devi Temple, traditionally regarded as one of the 18 Maha Shakti Peethas. Enjoy spectacular views of the Indian Ocean and Lovers' Leap before returning to Sigiriya for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4Dambulla, Matale Spice Garden & Kandy
Depart Sigiriya after breakfast and travel south towards Kandy. Pass through Dambulla and stop at an aromatic spice and herbal garden in Matale to discover Sri Lanka's famous cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and traditional medicinal plants. Continue to the royal hill capital of Kandy. Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic beside Kandy Lake and experience the atmosphere of the evening rituals. Later, enjoy a traditional Kandyan cultural performance featuring drumming and fire-walking. Dinner and overnight stay in Kandy.
Day 5Kandy to Ramboda, Sita Amman Temple & Nuwara Eliya
Travel into Sri Lanka's spectacular Central Highlands through winding mountain roads surrounded by tea estates and waterfalls. Visit a tea factory to discover how world-famous Ceylon tea is produced. At Ramboda, visit the Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple, associated with Hanuman's search for Sita. Continue to Seetha Eliya and visit the colorful Sita Amman Temple, one of the most important Ramayana-related sites in Sri Lanka. Afterwards, proceed to Nuwara Eliya and enjoy the cool mountain climate and beautiful surroundings. Dinner and overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 6Ashok Vatika, Divurumpola & Ravana Falls — Transfer to Colombo
After breakfast, visit Hakgala, traditionally associated with Ashok Vatika, where Sita is believed to have been kept during her time in Lanka. Continue to Divurumpola Temple, traditionally connected with Sita's Agni Pariksha and still regarded as a sacred place for taking oaths. Travel onward through the beautiful hill country towards Ella and stop at the spectacular Ravana Falls, one of Sri Lanka's best-known locations associated with the Ramayana legend. Afterwards, continue towards Colombo for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7Sri Anjaneyar Temple, Kelaniya Temple & Airport Departure
Begin the final day with a visit to the Sri Anjaneyar Temple in Kalubowila, an important shrine dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Continue to the historic Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara on the banks of the Kelani River. Ramayana tradition associates Kelaniya with Vibeeshana, who became King of Lanka following Ravana's defeat. Admire the temple's beautiful murals and peaceful surroundings before your chauffeur guide transfers you to Bandaranaike International Airport according to your flight schedule, concluding your sacred Ramayana journey through Sri Lanka.
