Everything you need before you arrive

Visa & Entry

Entry Requirements

Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)

Almost all nationalities require an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) to enter Sri Lanka. It is a straightforward online process that can be completed in minutes and typically approved within 24 hours. We strongly recommend applying before you fly — on-arrival applications are possible but cause delays.

ETA Exemptions

Citizens of the following countries do not require an ETA and may enter Sri Lanka visa-free:

How to Apply for Your ETA

01

Visit the Official ETA Portal

Go to the official Sri Lanka ETA website at eta.gov.lk. Avoid third-party sites that charge inflated fees for the same service.

02

Complete the Application Form

Enter your personal details, passport information, and travel dates. You will need a valid email address to receive your approval notice.

03

Pay the ETA Fee

A processing fee applies (currently USD 20 for most nationalities). Payment is made securely online by credit or debit card.

04

Receive Your Approval

Most applications are approved within 24 hours. Print or save your approval email — you may be asked to present it at check-in or on arrival.

Apply at eta.gov.lk — the official government portal. We have no affiliation with third-party ETA services.
