Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1Airport to Kataragama via Ussangoda
Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and meet your guide. Travel south towards Kataragama, visiting Ussangoda en route — the mythical red-soiled plateau torched by Lord Hanuman's flaming tail. In the evening, visit the sacred Kataragama Temple to participate in the colorful pooja for Lord Karthikeya Subramaniam, who protected Rama from Ravana's Brahmasthra. Dinner and overnight stay in Kataragama.
Day 2Kataragama to Nuwara Eliya via Ella
After breakfast, ascend to Nuwara Eliya via Ella. Marvel at the cascading Ravana Ella Falls and visit the famous caves of Ella. In Nuwara Eliya, visit the Sita Amman Kovil with its holy stream and giant footprints, followed by Hakgala Botanical Gardens (King Ravana's pleasure garden Ashok Vatika) and Divurumpola Temple, the revered place where Sita performed her Agni Pariksha. Day 3Nuwara Eliya to Kandy via Ramboda
Drive to Kandy across misty tea-clad hills. En route, visit scenic Ramboda Falls, a tea factory, and the Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple established by the Chinmaya Mission. In the royal city of Kandy, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and take in the tranquility of the mountain lake. Dinner and overnight stay in Kandy.
Day 4Kandy to Chilaw (Munneshwaram & Manavari) to Negombo
Travel to Chilaw on the northwest coast to visit Munneshwaram Temple, an ancient Shiva sanctuary predating the Ramayana. Continue to Manavari Temple, where Lord Rama installed the first Shiva Lingam (Ramalinga Shivan) to seek absolution from the Brahmaasthi Dosham after the great war. Transfer to Negombo for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5Negombo to Airport — Departure
