Tour Highlights
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1Arrival & Anuradhapura
Airport pickup and drive north to Anuradhapura — Sri Lanka's ancient sacred capital, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with massive white dagobas rising above the jungle canopy. Explore the city's 2,300-year-old ruins by bicycle or jeep: the sacred Bodhi Tree, Ruwanwelisaya Stupa, and royal pleasure gardens. Check in to your hotel and rest after the journey.
Day 2Sigiriya Rock Fortress
Drive to Sigiriya and conquer the iconic Rock Fortress — a 1,200-step ascent through ancient frescoes, mirror walls, and lion-paw gateways to the dramatic 5th-century summit palace. The panoramic views from the top over the surrounding jungle and reservoirs are among the finest in the country. Afternoon at leisure to explore the surrounding moat gardens.
Day 3Riverston Highland Trek
Transfer to the dramatic Riverston highlands — one of Sri Lanka's most rewarding and least-crowded trekking destinations. Trek to the Riverston Peak and Mini World's End viewpoint, with extraordinary panoramic views over the Matale Valley and surrounding jungle-covered hills. The area's pine forests, waterfalls, and endemic bird life make it one of the country's most beautiful highland settings.
Day 4White Water Rafting in Kithulgala
Drive to Kithulgala for Sri Lanka's premier white water rafting experience on the grade 3–4 Kelani River rapids. Tackle the 'Bus Stop,' 'Figure of Eight,' and the heart-pumping 'The Big One' under the guidance of certified instructors. In the afternoon, waterfall abseiling descends a jungle falls to a crystal-clear natural pool. Camping or lodge stay beside the river.
Day 5Nuwara Eliya Highlands
Transfer to Nuwara Eliya — Sri Lanka's highest town at 1,900m, surrounded by misty tea estates and colonial architecture. Hike to Single Tree Hill for panoramic views, visit Victoria Park, and explore a working tea plantation. The cool highland air and colonial atmosphere — horse racing club, old post office, manicured gardens — are a world apart from the tropical coast.
Day 6Scenic Train to Ella
Board the famous highland train from Nanu Oya to Ella for one of Asia's most celebrated rail journeys. Arrive in Ella and hike to the Nine Arch Bridge — a stunning colonial-era viaduct framed by jungle and tea estates — before climbing Little Adam's Peak for sunset views over the Ella Gap valley. Ella's café scene buzzes into the evening.
Day 7Yala National Park Safari
Drive south to Yala National Park for a full-day jeep safari in Sri Lanka's premier wildlife reserve. With the highest density of wild leopards in the world, Yala also supports large herds of wild elephants, sloth bears, mugger crocodiles, and hundreds of bird species across its varied habitats of scrub jungle, lagoons, and rocky outcrops along the Indian Ocean coast.
Day 8Mirissa Beach & Whale Watching
Transfer to the south coast for an early-morning whale watching trip from Mirissa — one of the world's best locations to observe blue whales and sperm whales. Return to shore by mid-morning and spend the afternoon on the beautiful crescent beach at Mirissa, swimming, snorkeling, or simply relaxing with a fresh coconut.
Day 9Galle Fort & Surfing
Morning exploration of the magnificent Galle Dutch Fort — ramparts, colonial streets, and ocean views. In the afternoon, head to Weligama Bay for a surfing session — one of Sri Lanka's finest beginner breaks, with certified instructors and a beautiful wide bay. The evening brings a sunset seafood dinner on the fort ramparts.
Day 10Negombo & Departure
Drive along the west coast to Negombo — a lively fishing town just 10 minutes from the airport. Visit the colourful fish market and the Dutch canal before your final transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport for your departure flight.
