Wilpattu National Park Day Tour
Wilpattu National ParkFull Day (8-10 hours)
Overview
Wilpattu, meaning 'Land of Lakes', is the largest national park in Sri Lanka and one of its oldest wildlife sanctuaries. Unlike the more crowded Yala, Wilpattu offers a more exclusive and intimate safari experience. This day tour takes you through a landscape dotted with unique natural lakes called 'villus' that attract diverse wildlife. The park is home to Sri Lankan leopards, sloth bears, Asian elephants, spotted deer, wild buffalo, and the elusive fishing cat. Wilpattu's dense jungle and open scrublands create a prehistoric atmosphere, and the park's remoteness means fewer vehicles and a more authentic wilderness experience. Birdwatchers will delight in over 200 species, including the Sri Lanka junglefowl.
